About

I am a generally happy, fairly impatient, 30-year-old. I have a wonderfully patient, smart, and supportive husband. We used IVF with ICSI to conceive our beautiful daughter. I now work part-time, and spend the rest of my time chasing a crazy toddler all over the place.

Our backstory….

I never really got my period.  At 16 or 17, when I was completely mortified that my younger sister beat me to it, I dragged my mother to an endocrinologist.  I took some progesterone to get that going.  Then I was on some form of hormonal birth control for the better part of a decade, with no regard for my cycles, and no pregnancy scares.

On my own I have irregular cycles, about 30-37 days in length, with daily spotting throughout the second half of the cycle.  My AMH level is 1.13, on the low side, but my RE isn’t too concerned.  That’s the only testing he’s done.

My husband had a couple surgeries in his childhood to repair a varicocele, but we never gave it much thought.

We began TTC July/August 2011.  In February 2012 after 8 months of irregular periods, I went to my doctor, and then the RE.  After a basic work-up on myself and my husband, we discovered that he had severe MFI (low everything), most likely due to his history of varicoceles.  After 5 months of HCG injections, his sperm count was even lower, and there you have it… IVF was our only option.

First cycle was August – September 2012. BFP that lead to our amazing daughter being born in May 2013.
